How Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) Works

1. Assessment
The technician begins by positioning an LED line board or reflector to map out the dent. This highlights every high and low in the metal, allowing precise analysis of the dent depth, crown structure, and metal tension.

2. Tool Selection
Specialised PDR rods are chosen based on length, thickness, and tip shape, along with knockdown tools suited to the panel curvature, metal type, and dent location. Every dent requires a unique combination of tools and techniques.

3. Access
The technician gains access by removing trim, door cards, headliners, or lights as needed. When rear access is limited, they use existing factory holes or apply glue tabs to work from the exterior surface.

4. Initial Push
With controlled precision, the technician applies gentle, measured pressure from behind the panel. The goal is to raise low spots gradually and release trapped tension within the metal without overstretching it.

5. Tension Release
Using soft-tipped plastic or metal blending taps, the technician relieves surface pressure and avoids over-crowning — balancing the panel’s natural form while maintaining paint
integrity.

6. Fine-Tuning
Through a delicate rhythm of micro pushes and knock-down taps, the metal is coaxed back
to its original contour. This stage demands experience, sensitivity, and complete focus.

7. Final Check
The surface is re-examined under the LED line board from multiple angles to confirm a flawless finish. Even micro-highs or lows are identified and corrected until the panel is optically flat.

8. Reassembly
All removed components are reinstalled, the panel is cleaned and polished, and the vehicle is returned to the customer in pristine condition.

No filler. No sanding. No paint. Just the art and science of precision metal manipulation.
